This crisp bacon jalapeño cheese chaffle is the best keto appetizer or snack.

How many calories are in jalapeños?

One entire pickled jalapeño has 54 calories. For this recipe, we only use a few slices of pickled jalapeño.

How many carbs are in regular jalapeño poppers?

There I roughly 21 g of carbs per serving of jalapeño poppers at a typical restaurant. Cut out the carbs were making this bacon cheese jalapeño chaffle.

Are jalapeños keto friendly? 

Yes, jalapeños contain very few carbs.

One entire cup of sliced raw jalapeños contains only 6 g of carbohydrates.

Are jalapeños healthy?

Jalapeños are a great source of protein and fiber, so yes, they are very healthy.

Jalapeños are also abundant in vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin B6!

The best dipping sauces for bacon jalapeño cheese chaffles: 

Pickle chaffles are delicious when dipped! 

Some of the best sauces to dip a chafe into include: 

  • Ranch
  • Hot sauce/ ranch mix 
  • Taco seasoning/ ranch mix 

What cheese should I use to make a bacon jalapeño cheese chaffle? 

For this recipe, I used shredded Monterey Jack cheese. 

If you do not have shredded Monterey cheese, I recommend cheddar as a substitute.

What should I substitute if I don’t have sliced jalapeños? 

If you do not have sliced pickles, I recommend pickled banana peppers.

Or, any other pickled pepper will do!

What can I add to jazz up a cheesy jalapeño chaffle?

Spicy burger chaffle?

Add some ground beef along with jalapeños.

Ham lover?

Add some diced ham to your chaffle for a nice little ham sandwich. 

Leftover shredded pork or chicken?

Try adding some carne asada to your chaffle!

How do I make a fried cheddar jalapeño cheese chaffle?

To prevent sticking, first spray the mini waffle maker with nonstick cooking spray.

Next, make sure to put a nice good size layer of cheese on the bottom. 

Then, add in your bacon and jalapeños.

Finally, at a nice heaping amount of cheese on top, then close.

How do I keep it from sticking to the mini waffle maker?

There are two main tips for making sure your chaffle doesn’t stick to the waffle iron:

Be sure to spray a nice coating of non-stick cooking spray. 

Do not open until at least 4-5 minutes. You must let the cheese form a hard crust before checking or it will stick.

Can I freeze jalapeño chaffles? 

I do not recommend freezing them and they are best if consumed shortly after removing from the mini waffle maker.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar or Monterrey Jack cheese
  • 4 jalapeño slices pickled and patted dry
  • 1 tsp bacon bits
  • 1 tbsp ranch dressing optional, for dipping

Instructions

  • Preheat mini waffle maker.
  • Spray with nonstick cooking spray
  • Add half the cheese to the waffle maker, then bacon bits, then jalapeño slices.
  • Layer with remaining cheese and close.
  • Be sure not to open for at least 4 to 5 minutes or until cheese is begin to crisp over.

This sounds perfect for my low carb lifestyle! However, you might want to change an error in the cooking time instructions from 45 to 4 or 5 minutes. 😃
